A high-ranking official from Cape Town City FC is embroiled in a legal battle after the club filed fraud charges against him. His subsequent resignation from the club was followed by his arrest.
Grant Veitch, who had a long tenure as the head of development for the Betway Premiership side, stepped down at the end of January.
After securing a plum job at a top international agency, Veitch submitted his resignation on 31 January 2025. He began serving his notice at the start of February and was set to complete it at the end of the month before transitioning to the new job.
However, Veitch was arrested on Wednesday, 19 February 2025 and appeared in court on Friday.
Grant Veitch faces fraud charges related to the alleged theft of R32,000 from Cape Town City chairman John Comitis. He was granted bail of R5,000 without conditions. The state did not oppose bail.
