26 Aug 2025
Kim Swartz | May 21, 2025 ALLEGED leader of the Fancy Boys gang Abubaker Clive Adams and co-accused are free men after murder charges against them were dropped on Wednesday at the Mitchells Plain Magistrates Court. Adams, known as “Bakka” was in custody while awaiting his bail application for two months after he was busted during a takedown operation at his larney house in Durbanville in March. The notorious gang boss is believed to be behind a dozen of hostile takeovers in various communities including Lentegeur, Heideveld, Manenberg and various others, fueling gang battles across the Cape. Adams, alongside Clinton Manuel, Denovan Bendall and Bradwin Ruiters, faced various charges, including murder and firearm-related klagtes dating back to 2013. The alleged gang boss was set to continue his bail application while his three manskappe opted to stay in the mang. Adams was charged with the murder of Efraim Hartnick, who according to the State’s indictment was killed twice on different occasions by different people, however the court heard that the State admitted to being unaware of the charges the accused faced. Speaking to the Daily Voice, Adams’ lawyer, Attorney Bruce Hendricks, says: “The high water mark judgment by the magistrate indicated the state failed in their duty to prosecute without fear, favour or prejudice. “That [the magistrate] has a Constitutional duty and she finds that the Constitutional rights of the accused has been grossly violated and she struck the case against all the accusers off the roll.” Hendricks advised that he is having the records of the entire application transcribed as they are reviewing their options to sue the State.
