THE daughter of an alleged Fancy Boys gang member has been charged for helping her toppie to run a gun storage facility.
A week after Marwaan “Wonky” Alexander appeared alongside his motjie Raushan de Villiers on a slew of charges in the Bellville Magistrates Court they were joined by their 29-year-old daughter, Aqeelah Alexander, as they returned to the dock yesterday.
The couple from Labiance were arrested at a storage unit in Bellville South last Monday when cops caught Alexander red-handed inside the unit.
At the time, a Daily Voice source revealed that the duo arrived in a Golf 7 GTI and Alexander was allegedly busy loading guns and ammo when they were uitgevang.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa said cops uncovered three AK 47 rifles, one R5 rifle, one assault rifle, 12 pistols, three Uzzis, four shotguns, two revolvers, 50 000 Mandrax tablets, six M26 grenades and a large quantity of an assortment of rounds of ammunition.
The operation took the team later in the evening to another storage facility in Stikland where a package containing two kilograms of heroin was confiscated.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirmed the arrest.
He adds: “This office can confirm that a 29-year-old female was arrested and appeared in the Bellville Magistrates court on charges of illegal possession of firearms, ammunition and drugs as well as the possession of illegal explosives.
According to court documents, Aqeelah now faces drug charges for the heroin found in the unit valued at approximately R600 000.
Affidavits read into the record by investigating officers of the Anti-Gang Unit reveal that Aqeelah had signed the lease agreements on the storage units and admitted to cops that she had borrowed her father the keys.
She was released on R20 000 bail on the drug charge and later taken to another court room where she was joined to her parent’s gun case.
In the firearms case, Aqeelah and her mother were released on bail of R30 000, while Alexander opted not to apply for bail at this stage. The case was postponed to 5 September.
Defence Advocate Bruce Hendricks confirmed that his clients had been released on bail and declined to comment further.
